The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Samsung Mobile Display will be using Samsung’s new $2.1 billion factory (that is currently in construction) to increase its display production. If you’ve been keeping up with the news, you’ll most likely have heard of the OLED/AMOLED display shortage, most famously affecting HTC’s Droid Incredible inventory levels . With the bump in production, Samsung is looking to increase its production capacity from the current 3 million units to 30 million units per month, a juicy tenfold increase
LG has just announced that it will use NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 in its upcoming Optimus smartphones, and tablets. This is huge for NVIDIA as the graphics chip company has had troubles to win contracts with major handset makers in the past.

Toshiba has some interesting projects going on with televisions and computers, and this particular one is a robot that looks more like a side project, really. It is called the ApriPoco, and I’m not sure what the translates to. If you ask me, it sounds like Acapulco, which I’ve heard is a very nice place to go.

Little known Lava Scandinavia TVs has revealed what they call the “Android TV”, calling it the first in the world (for its kind, anyways). Being demonstrated at IFA 2010 Berlin, this device is a hybrid of low-power computer and traditional TV, where standard TV hardware has been complemented with the presence of another logic board which will dish out an Android-based Internet TV interface. The home screen can be filled up with Android widgets, and when you hit a key on the QWERTY keyboard/remote, you will be greeted with a more feature-rich “home menu” from where you are able to access the web browser, YouTube, Facebook, Email client and other Android apps.
A Reuters report pointed out that Rubin, Google VP Engineering who oversees Android development, has actually been knee deep in talks with record labels and has expectations of rolling out their Google Music service by the time Christmas rolls around (and not this fall as previously speculated ).
